Rules & regulations


Students of 8th standard to 12th standard of both State Syllabus and Central Syllabus who seek opportunity to present their talents in learning Science (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology) are eligible to participate. There is no bar on the number of students from one school to participate in the Congress.
The students should prepare a Research Paper or Technical Paper based on the projects or assignments given by the teachers during the course of their study in the current academic year or based on their own choice of scientific enquiry and findings.


Students have to register with the 150 word abstract of their scientific work/ science contribution in any of the following subjects:
1. Mathematics
2. Physics
3. Chemistry
4. Biology
The abstracts have to be submitted through their respective schools in the prescribed Registration Form. The Organizers encourage team work for scientific studies and presentations
Your Abstract should contain the following in Word format

  • Title for your paper
  • Name of the presenter(s) ( There can be more than one student writing the paper i.e. a team work is also acceptable) with school address and phone number
  • A brief outline of the importance of the work, objective of the study, methodology used for the study, salient findings and your recommendations and conclusions.


Full paper or write up of the scientific work has to be sent to the organizers either in hard copy format or by e. mail address provided in this brochure for the purpose. The paper normally should have the following structure.

  • Title of the Paper
  • Authors name, address, phone number, email address ( if any)
  • The abstract already sent
  • Introduction to the study which also contains the scope and objective of the study
  • Methods and methodology used for the study
  • Results and discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgement, if any
  • References


Power Point or Overhead Projector Presentation for maximum 10 minutes will be allowed for papers selected for oral presentations. In the case of Power Point Presentation, students can either prepare their presentation in CDs or in Pen Drives and hand over the same to the person in charge of the presentation in your session at least half an hour before the start of the session. LCD projectors and Computers will be provided for oral presentation.

The Students whose papers are selected for posters have to prepare the posters with title, author’s name and address, brief text, tables, graphs and conclusions / findings (3 feet x 2 feet – vertical) Facilities will be available for papers recommended for poster presentations.


Rs. 350/- per student delegate will have to be paid to Shasthra 2017 -2018 either through the School of the student or directly to the Treasurer, Shastra - Children’s Science Congress
It is also possible to send DD in favour of the Treasurer, Shastra- Children’s Science Congress payable at Cochin to the Science Congress Office Address
(Working lunch as well as morning and evening tea and snacks will be provided to the registered delegates)
